Abstract
The national emergency care practitioner (ECP) initiative began in response to a project at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust to develop paramedic and nursing skills, and was informed by guidance published by the Department of Health last year in its review of ambulance services, Taking Health Care to the Patient.
