Abstract
UNLABELLED: There is widespread curiosity among the general public and healthcare professionals about the functioning of the Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (SAMU), the Brazilian public emergency medical service. Podcasts have proven to be an excellent channel for communication and explanation. OBJECTIVE: To describe the development of an audiovisual podcast showcasing the work routine of SAMU in the capital of Amazonas. METHOD: SAMUCast is a project linked to the education service of Manaus Health Department. It adopts an audiovisual format with a unique logo and opening sequence to share activities beyond standard care protocols. Stories are narrated by professionals from various categories, with episodes lasting up to 30 minutes, focusing on specific departments. The material was recorded and edited in a professional studio and kept in a cloud storage service. RESULTS: Episodes were recorded in October and November 2023. Two nurses served as anchors, interviewing 14 professionals from administration, care, and educational sectors using a pre-designed script. The slogan "Join me for the shift!" was adopted. The material is ready for upload to any free platform, managed by the Manaus Health Department. CONCLUSION: SAMUCast has proven to be an opportunity to provide deeper insights into the service offered to the population while fostering communication and generating admiration and respect among team members.
