Coaching leadership exercised by nurses in the context of pre-hospital care: an analytical observational study.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES: to analyze the correlation between coaching leadership exercised by pre-hospital care nurses and sociodemographic and professional aspects. METHODS: an observational, analytical, cross-sectional study, carried out in mobile and fixed pre-hospital care units in Minas Gerais. A total of 79 nurses answered the questionnaires "Characterization of participants with sociodemographic/professional data" and "Nurse Self-Perception Questionnaire in Leadership Exercise Questionnaire". RESULTS: nurses perceive themselves as exercising coaching leadership (score 83.89). Communication was the dimension with the highest mean of the leadership instrument. Being a cis male nurse influenced the support of the team in this context. Communication was correlated with having a fixed-term contract and not having another employment relationship. CONCLUSIONS: nurses perceive coaching leadership in nursing practice, and men may be more likely to adopt leadership styles that emphasize active support to the team with a focus on results.
