Abstract
Airway management is an essential competence in anesthesia, critical care, prehospital and emergency medicine, extending well beyond theoretic knowledge and technical abilities. Inadequate training is recognized as a key factor affecting patient safety. Reflecting broader trends, airway education has evolved in response to innovative technology, advances in pedagogy and digital transformation. This progress has replaced the "see one, do one, teach one" model with the incorporation of a diverse array of tools and techniques that promote competency-based, participatory learning. This article reviews some drivers for advancement in airway education, outlines key educational concepts, and presents recently developed innovative tools.
