Abstract

In this article, we will describe pharmacologic interventions and physical restraints use in children with agitation in the prehospital and hospital setting, disparities that exist in their use, evidence-based practices surrounding appropriate restraint use, techniques for de-escalation to reduce the need for restraint, specific techniques and medications for restraint when indicated, regulations surrounding the use of restraints, and effort to reduce the use of restraints.
