[Prehospital analgesia : practical approach and current state].

Abstract
Pain is present in most prehospital emergencies. In Switzerland, there are no published national guidelines, and practices therefore vary between prehospital systems, relying on separate protocols or studies. Recent recommendations, which are based on a systematic review of the literature, emphasize a multimodal, individualized approach involving repeated pain assessment. This article summarizes and updates these recommendations, while providing a pragmatic approach to prehospital analgesia, based on the origin and intensity of pain.
